Kucha or Kuche Uyghur (كۇچار), Chinese Simplified: 龟兹; Traditional: 龜茲; pinyin Qiūcí; also romanized as Qiuzi, Qiuci, Chiu-tzu, Kiu-che, Kuei-tzu from the traditional Chinese forms 屈支 屈茨; 龜玆; 龟兹, 丘玆, also Po; Sanskrit: Kucina, Standard Tibetan: Kutsahiyui was an ancient Buddhist kingdom located on the branch of the Silk Road that ran along the northern edge of the Taklamakan Desert in the Tarim Basin and south of the Muzat River.. Protectorate General to Pacify the West

The Protectorate General to Pacify the West, Grand Protectorate General to Pacify the West, or Anxi Protectorate (640–790) was a Chinese outpost established by Tang Dynasty in 640 to control the regions of Tian Shan, the Pamir Mountains and the Tarim Basin. The head office was first established at the Chinese prefecture Xizhou, but was later shifted to Kucha and situated there for most of the period. The Four Garrisons of Anxi were later installed to consort the military government.

Kuqa Qiuci Airport

Kuqa Qiuci Airport is an airport serving Kuqa County in Xinjiang Autonomous Region, China. It is located 38 kilometers from the county seat. The airport was first built in 1939, but ceased operation in 1998. In 2009 it was moved and rebuilt at its current location with an investment of 333 million yuan, and was reopened in 2011 under the new name Kuqa Qiuci Airport, after the ancient kingdom based in Kuqa.
