Yunnan Astronomical Observatory

Yunnan Astronomical Observatory (YAO / 云南天文台) an institution of Chinese Academy of Sciences sits on the Phoenix Hill in east suburb of Kunming, Yunnan, China. It is the only research observatory in the southwest of China. It is a state institution for astronomy research and public science education. There are 8 research groups and 2 observing stations in YAO.

Chenggong District

Chenggong District is a city district under the jurisdiction of Kunming Prefecture, Yunnan Province, China. Chenggong, formerly a county and situated on east bank of the Dian Lake, had its status changed to a district of Kunming in 2011. Chenggong is the chief zone for the expansion of the city of Kunming, almost a 20 minute drive away. It is the site of the new Kunming City Hall, and new campuses for Yunnan University and Yunnan Normal University.

Yangzong Lake

Yangzonghai Lake is located between Yiliang County, Chenggong District and Chengjiang County, 45 kilometers east of Kunming City in Yunnan Province, China. About 30,000 people rely on the Lake as their drinking water. Yangzonghai Lake is noted for its underwater springs and is one of several scenic areas in Yunnan province, which is known for its biodiversity.
