Zhoushan Island

Zhoushan Island is the principal island of the namesake archipelago Zhoushan Islands, administered by Zhoushan City, Zhejiang Province, the People's Republic of China. Its name means "Boat Mountain", in reference to its shape. It is the province's largest island, and third largest in mainland China. The island is the district seats of both Dinghai and Putuo.

Dinghai District

 Dinghai is a district of Zhoushan City made of 128 islands in Zhejiang province, China. It is based on the larger northwestern half of Zhoushan Island, where it borders Putuo in the east. The district boundary meets that of Daishan County entirely on sea to the north. Its southwestern boundary intersects those of Ningpo City entirely on sea.

Mount Putuo

Mount Putuo is an island southeast of Shanghai, in Zhoushan prefecture of Zhejiang province, China. It is famous in Chinese Buddhism, and is considered the bodhimanda of Avalokitesvara, a revered Bodhisattva in many parts of East Asia. Mount Putuo is one of the four sacred mountains in Chinese Buddhism, the others being Mount Wutai, Mount Jiuhua, and Mount Emei. Mount Putuo lies on Eastern Sea of China and displays the beauty between sea and mountain.

Zhoushan Island Overhead Powerline Tie

The Zhoushan Island Overhead Powerline Tie is a 220 kV three phase AC interconnection of the power grid of Zhoushan Island with that of the Chinese mainland. It runs over several islands and consist of several long distance spans, the longest with a length of 2.7 kilometres south of Damao Island. This span uses two 370 metres tall pylons, which are the tallest electricity pylons in the world.
