Tshilenge District

Tshilenge District is a district located in the Kasai-Oriental province, in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. It contains the city of Mbuji-Mayi, but the city is administered independently. Under the 2006 constitution, Tshilenge District was to have been combined with the city of Mbuji-Mayi to form the new province of Kasai-Oriental, effective 18 February 2006. The capital of the province would be Mbuji-Mayi. As of October 2010, this had not taken place.

Miabi

Miabi is a territory of the Tshilenge District in the south-central of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. It is inhabited by the Bakwa Dishi and the land which is approximately 1,900 square miles is owned by its royal family. Miabi is also a town within the territory; it was founded in 1933 by Kazadi Diofua after his release (he was imprisoned for 10 years by the local colonial power for rebelling and demanding the autonomy of his people).
