Simi-Simi Airport

Simi-Simi is the original airport of the city of Kisangani, Democratic Republic of the Congo, formerly called Stanleyville. In the turbulent times of Congo's independence and the subsequent struggles, it was the city's only airport, and thus was the scene of severe fighting during the Simba Rebellion and the associated operation Dragon Rouge in 1964.

Kisangani

Tshopo District

Tshopo District is a district located in Orientale Province, in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. It is situated in the northeast of the country on the Tshopo River, for which it is named. Tshopo is one of 25 proposed provinces of the Democratic Republic of the Congo specified in the country's 2006 Constitution, due to take effect no later than February 2009. The province was to be formed from Tshopo District and the city of Kisangani, which would be the capital.

Boyoma Falls

Boyoma Falls, formerly known as Stanley Falls, consists of seven cataracts, each no more than 5 m high, extending over more than 100 km along a curve of the Lualaba River between the river port towns of Ubundu and Kisangani/Boyoma in the Orientale Province of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. At the bottom of the rapids, the Lualaba becomes the Congo River. The seven cataracts have a total drop of 61 m .
