Matei Airport

Matei Airport, also known as Taveuni Airport or Taveuni Island Airport, is an airport located in Matei on the northern end of Taveuni, an island of the Vanua Levu Group in Fiji. It is operated by Airports Fiji Limited. The airport is quite small but receives a number of flights from Sun Air and Air Fiji from Nadi and Suva. The airport is quite close to a number of resorts and small accommodation providers. The airport also has recently been upgraded from a gravel runway to a paved runway.

Matagi Island

Matagi, sometimes written Matangi, is an island of Fiji, one of three tiny volcanic islands grouped to the east of Thurston Point on the island of Taveuni, the others being Qamea and Laucala. Inaccessible until recently, this privately owned island has been turned into a resort for up-market divers. The horseshoe-shaped islet of 97 hectares (240 acres) lies 10 kilometers east of Thurston Point.
