Herreninsel
The island Herreninsel, with an area of 238 hectares, is the biggest of the three main islands of the Chiemsee, a lake in the state of Bavaria, Germany. Together with the islands of Fraueninsel and "Krautinsel" it forms the municipality of Chiemsee. Herrenchiemsee is inhabited by only about 300 people. The island is famous for the palace of Herrenchiemsee built by Ludwig II of Bavaria.

It belongs to the municipality of Chiemsee in Upper Bavarian district of Rosenheim, which is the smallest municipality in all of Bavaria. The 15.5-hectare large and car free Fraueninsel houses 300 permanent residents as well as an active Benedictine convent.

Rimsting station
Rimsting station is a former railway station in the Upper Bavarian district of Rimsting on the Rosenheim–Salzburg railway in southern Germany. The first halt was installed in 1881 for the Bavarian King Ludwig II, who wanted to visit the construction site for his next palace, Schloss Herrenchiemsee. The present-day station building was erected in 1911. In 1981 the station was closed to passenger services; a siding is still in use for the delivery of liquid gas.
