Weihenstephan is known for: the Benedictine Weihenstephan Abbey, founded 725, which established the oldest still operating brewery in the world (1040). The Erching transmitter was a longwave broadcasting facility of the Voice of America, established in 1953 near Erching, Bavaria, Germany.
