Rothenbaum
Rothenbaum was a Sudetenland hamlet, situated about 1 km east of the border to Bavaria. Following the Expulsion of Germans from Czechoslovakia after World War II, the deserted place, now called Červené Dřevo, was destroyed, and Czechoslovakian border fortifications during the Cold War were installed. The Battle of Domažlice (Czech: Bitva u Domažlic) or Battle of Taus (German: Schlacht bei Taus) was fought on August 14, 1431 as the part of the 5th crusade against Hussites. The crusade was sent to Bohemia after the negotiations they were held in Pressburg and Cheb between Hussites and the emperor Sigismund had failed.

Pajrek
The ruins of the Pajrek castle lie in the Czech Republic above the town of Nýrsko in the western part of the Šumava (Bohemian Forest), 505 m a.s.l. This important borderline castle was established at the beginning of the 14th century. In 1472 it was already abandoned. In 1504 the castle was reconstructed, but it was only used till the middle of the 16th century, when it was finally abandoned. Only the remains of the huge tower have been preserved up till the present day.
