St. Barbara Catholic Church

Saint Barbara Catholic Church also known as Santa Barbara Catholic Church and Akosombo Catholic Church is a small church situated at one of the highest points in Akosombo, Ghana, overlooking the dam. It was constructed in September 1962 by Impregilo SPA in 21 days. It was built as a place of worship by the staff of Impregilo during the building of the Akosombo Dam. Subsequently a memorial plaque was placed in the church to honor the 28 staff of Impregilo SPA who died building the dam.

Akwamufie

Akwamufie is the state and seat capital of the Akwamu state or kingdom. It is located along the Akuapim-Togo range, the Volta River and in the Eastern Region. It is the town where the Paramount Chief, Odeneho Kwafo-Akoto III and Queen Nana Afrakoma II reside and administer their operations. The majority of the divisional chiefs and sub chiefs also reside in Akwamufie. Akwamu State or Kingdom consists of thirty six towns of which Akwamufie is the capital.

Gyakiti

Gyakiti is a town in the east of Ghana. The Presbyterian Church established one of its first missionary outposts there. The school and mission house are believed to be close to a hundred years old.

Kpong Airfield

Kpong Airfield first opened in November 2005. It is the busiest private airfield in West Africa with active light aviation movements most days. It has two grass runways 19/01 (800m) and 29/11 (200m) located 3 km south of the small lake created by Kpong Dam in the Eastern Region of Ghana and 50 km north of Tema.
