Kalamos, Kythira

Kalamos is a village in the south east side of Kythira, an island in the Ionian Sea, Greece. Kalamos has 250 inhabitants, one church and three beaches nearby: Chalkos, Broulea and Fyrri Ammos. A.O. Kalamou F.C. won the Kytherian football tournament 2006 and their captain was the first scorer and also he was chosen as the M.V.P. of the tournament. Kalamos' protector saint is Saint Nikitas and Kalamites have built a church to his name.

Mylopotamos, Cythera

Mylopotamos (Greek: Μυλοπόταμος, meaning "mill on the river") is a village on the island of Cythera, southern Greece. It was named Mylopotamos because there are 22 watermills built along a small stream. The water mills were built for grinding wheat. Today 21 of the mills are in ruins and one, the Phil's (Φιλιππή'ς) water mill, is in working condition. Phil's watermill belongs to the grandson of the last owner, Filippas (Φίλιππας), and it has been in the family for 350 years.

Kithira Island National Airport

Kithira Island National Airport is an airport in Kithira, Greece. The airport was renovated in 1998 and the terminal and control tower were rebuilt. Olympic Air operates schduled flights to Athens several times a week, while charter flights are common in the summer. Travel to Kythira by airplane is considered the most reliable method of transportation to the island since it is less affected by the strong winds that prevent ferry boat transit.

Platia Ammos

Platia Ammos is a beach in the prefecture of Larissa. The beach is approached, leaving the Kokkino Nero and continuing uphill now, the way to the Stomio Beach. The huge trees that shade at midday the beach, offering a natural umbrella and black and white pebbles on the wide sandy beach that adorned it, are main characteristics.

HMS Greyhound (H05)

HMS Greyhound (H05) was a G-class destroyer built for the Royal Navy in the 1930s. Greyhound participated in the Norwegian Campaign in April 1940, the Dunkirk evacuation in May and the Battle of Dakar in September before being transferred to the Mediterranean Fleet in November. The ship generally escorted the larger ships of the Mediterranean Fleet as they protected convoys against attacks from the Italian Fleet. She sank two Italian submarines while escorting convoys herself in early 1941.
