Vrontou, Pieria

Vrontou is a town of the former Municipality of Dio, which is part of the municipality of Dio-Olympos, in the Pieria regional unit, Central Macedonia, Greece, at an altitude of 120 meters, with 2,081 inhabitants (census 2001). An impressive and spectacular event is the carnival of Vrontou (Καρναβάλι της Βροντούς), that take place every year.

Paralia Panteleimonos

Paralia Panteleimonos is a settlement of the former municipal district of Panteleimonas, the former municipality of East Olympos, which belongs to the municipality of Dio-Olympos, and is one of the 16 total coast of the regional unit. It is about 36 km from Katerini, 56 km from Larissa and is southeast of the county. According to recent archaeological excavations in the area during the construction of the railway tunnel under the castle, were findings of ancient Greek town Ηράκλεια (Heracleia).

Ano Skotina

Ano Skotina is an old settlement of the prefecture of Pieria. It is built on an altitude of 600 m on the southeastern side of Mount Olympus. It has hotels, taverns, restaurants, and offers every form of alternative tourism like mountain riding, climbing, hiking etc. Cultural events of the settlement is the celebration of the Church of Κοίμηση της Θεοτόκου, every year on August 15.

Platamon Castle

The Platamon Castle (Greek: το κάστρο του Πλαταμώνα) is a castle of the middle Byzantine period (10th century AD) and is located southeast of Mount Olympus, in a strategic position which controls the exit of the Tempe valley, through which passes the main road connecting Macedonia with Thessaly and southern Greece. The tower, which overlooks the highway, is an imposing medieval fortress.
