Pelion

Pelion or Pelium is a mountain at the southeastern part of Thessaly in central Greece, forming a hook-like peninsula between the Pagasetic Gulf and the Aegean Sea. Its highest summit, Pourianos Stavros, is 1,610 m amsl. The GR-38 runs in the southern portion of the peninsula and the GR-38A runs in the middle.

Drakeia massacre

The Drakeia massacre (Greek: Η σφαγή της Δράκειας) refers to the mass execution of 118 men by SS soldiers in the village of Drakeia, located on Mount Pelion, in Thessaly, on 18 December 1943. Out of the 350 houses, 58 were destroyed. It was part of the multiple Nazi anti-partisan reprisals in occupied Greece. A wake in memory of the victims is held in the area every year, in the presence of members of the Greek Parliament and the President of Greece.

Panthessaliko Stadium

Panthessaliko Stadium is a stadium located at Volos, Greece. The stadium was the site of football (soccer) matches during the 2004 Summer Olympics. It was officially opened on July 30, 2004 and has a capacity of 22,700 seats, though only 21,100 seats were made publicly available for the Olympic matches. The Panthessaliko Stadium is the home stadium of the two teams of the city, Olympiakos Volou F.C. ,in the Football League (Greece) and Niki Volou F.C. also in the Football League (Greece).

Volos Municipal Stadium

Volos Municipal Stadium is a sports stadium in Volos, Greece. It was the homeground of the local football club Olympiacos until the team moved to the new Panthessaliko Stadium in 2006. The stadium was renovated in 2004 since it was one of the Olympic training venues of the 2004 Summer Olympic Games. It has a capacity of 9,000 people.
