Oratorio, Santa Rosa

Oratorio is a municipality in the Santa Rosa department of Guatemala. On the outskirts of the regional centerplace, Cuilapa, Oratorio is mainly an agricultural worker habitat. It is surrounded by vast coffee bean and banana plantations. Oratorio sits in a deep valley, so the sun rises late and sets early. The small city is stretched along one of the international two-lane highways that leads to El Salvador. The stretch of land makes for a very narrow but long city outline.

Barberena is a municipality in Santa Rosa department of Guatemala. Filled with local vendors and stores selling American goods, Barberena is a small town typical of the Guatemalan countryside. Due to its close proximity to many rural communities, Barberena plays a central role in the local economy, especially as a point of exchange for agricultural goods and manufactured products. The crime rate is especially high, as in much of Guatemala.

Chiquimulilla

Chiquimulilla is a municipality in the Santa Rosa department of Guatemala. It is located about 20 kilometres from the Pacific coast. The city is an important regional trade location and junction. The most important products are leather goods. Chiquimulilla has 12,700 inhabitants. Some descendants of the Xinca people live in the adjacent area. This ethnicity was almost completely wiped out after the conquest of the Spaniards, mostly from infectious diseases that the Europeans brought in.
