Sark

Sark is a small island in the Channel Islands in southwestern English Channel, off the French coast of Normandy. It is a royal fief, geographically located in the Channel Islands in the Bailiwick of Guernsey, with its own set of laws based on Norman law and its own parliament. It has a population of about 600. Sark has an area of 2.10 square miles .

Operation Basalt

Operation Basalt was a small British raid conducted during World War II on the German occupied British Channel Island of Sark. On the night of 3–4 October 1942 ten men of the Special Operations Executive's Small Scale Raiding Force, and No. 12 Commando, landed on Sark with the object of offensive reconnaissance and capturing prisoners. Nine of the raiders broke into the house of a local while the tenth went to a covert rendezvous with an SOE agent.

Little Sark

Little Sark is a peninsula forming the southern section of the Channel Island of Sark. There is a hamlet here, and also a guesthouse and cafe at La Sablonnerie.

Brecqhou

Brecqhou is one of the Channel Islands and part of the Bailiwick of Guernsey. It is located just west of Sark and has a surface area of approximately 200 acres . Sark claims it as a tenement, and the Ministry of Justice, the department of the United Kingdom government with responsibility for the Channel Islands, considers Brecqhou part of Sark - but this is disputed by Brecqhou's current tenants.

Herm

Herm is the smallest of the Channel Islands that is open to the public and is part of the Bailiwick of Guernsey. Cars are banned from the small island as they are on its Channel Island neighbour, Sark. Unlike Sark, Herm also bans bicycles. However, Herm does allow quad bikes and tractors for the locals. Herm won the 2002 and 2008 Britain in Bloom competition in the "Small Coastal Resort" category.
