Cane Grove

Cane Grove is an agricultural community in the Demerara-Mahaica Region of Guyana, standing at sea-level on the coastal plain, along the Mahaica River, about eight kilometres upstream of its mouth. John Carter, Guyana's first ambassador to the United States and a key figure in the pre-independence turmoil of what was, before 1966, British Guiana was born in Cane Grove.

Mahaicony

Mahaicony is a village in the Mahaica-Berbice Region of Guyana, located at {{#invoke:Coordinates|coord}}{{#coordinates:06|33|N|57|48|W|region:GY|| | |name= }}. In other words, Mahaicony's boundary on the coast is from De Hoop on the west and Calcutta on the east. Economic Activity Fishing, farming and hunting are three of the oldest economic activities known to man. In Mahaicony these are still the most popular way of life for the residents.

Abary

Abary is a small community in the Mahaica-Berbice Region of Guyana, near the mouth of the Abary River, 43 miles from Georgetown. Abary is known for the Abary Bridge located on the Main Highway. The approach to the bridge can prove frightening to local children riding in cars.

Abary River

The Abary River is a small river in northern Guyana that drains into the Atlantic Ocean. Historic Amerindian settlements existed at Tiger Island, Taurakuli and Doctor Ho Landing. The largest Arawak settlement was Abary village in the upper Abary River, which unfortunately now lies under the reservoir created by the Mahaica-Mahaicony-Abary (MMA) project in the 1970s.
