Skjálfandafljót

The River Skjálfandafljót is situated in the north of Iceland. It has its source at the northwestern border of the icecap Vatnajökull on the Highlands of Iceland. From there it streams parallel to the Sprengisandur highland road in northern direction, flowing finally into Skjálfandi bay.

Þingeyjarsveit

Þingeyjarsveit (also written Thingeyjarsveit) is a municipality located in Iceland. The total area is 5,424 km². As of December 1, 2005, it had a total population of 686, by January 2011 it had increased to 944. The Vaglaskógur birch wood, one of Iceland's largest woods, is located in the municipality. The district school and sports centre can be found in Laugar.

Goðafoss

The Goðafoss is one of the most spectacular waterfalls in Iceland. It is located in the Mývatn district of North-Central Iceland at the beginning of the Sprengisandur highland road. The water of the river Skjálfandafljót falls from a height of 12 meters over a width of 30 meters. In the year 999 or 1000 the Lawspeaker Þorgeir Ljósvetningagoði made Christianity the official religion of Iceland.

Norðurþing is a municipality located in northern Iceland. As of 1 January 2011 (2011-01-01), it had a population of 2,905 and covered 3,729 km . The biggest town in the municipality is Húsavík, with a population of approximately 2,200 inhabitants. Other settlements include Kópasker and Raufarhöfn.
