Banaskantha district

Banaskantha is one among the twenty-six districts of the Gujarat state of India. The administrative headquarters of the district is at Palanpur which is also its largest city. The district is located in the Northeast of Gujarat and is presumably named after the West Banas River which runs through the valley between Mount Abu and Aravalli Range, entering into the plains of Gujarat in this region and flowing towards the Rann of Kutch.

Deesa Airport

Deesa Airport (also spelled Disa Airport) is an airport in Deesa, Gujarat originally built to serve the princely state of Palanpur. It is managed by the Airports Authority of India. The airport hit national headlines in February 2011 when Subramanian Swamy claimed that 2G Scam accused Shahid Balwa illegally used the airport for transporting "all kinds of VIPs and criminals" in and out of the country secretly.

Palanpur

Palanpur is a city and a municipality of Banaskantha district in the Indian state of Gujarat. Palanpur is the largest city and the administrative headquarters of the district. Legend has it that Palanpur was first settled by a certain Prahladan, belonging to the Paramara clan of Rajputs, who received the surrounding area as appanage from his elder brother, who ruled the region of what is now Mount Abu. It was known as Prahladanpur in history of Jainism.
