Tumkur University

Tumkur University was established in 2004 in Tumkur, Karnataka, India. It was carved out of Bangalore University to accommodate the needs of the students from Tumkur district and surrounding areas. Established under the Karnataka State Universities Act, 2000, as a multi-faculty university, it has 12 postgraduate departments, 2 constituent colleges and 94 affiliated colleges. It has established 29 research centres to promote advanced multi-disciplinary research and academic collaborations.

Tumkur

Tumkur is an industrial town located in the state of Karnataka. Since 28 August 2010, Tumkur has been accorded the status of a corporation city. It is situated at a distance of 70 kilometers northwest of Bangalore, along National Highway 206. It is the headquarters of the Tumkur district.

Nrityagram

Nrityagram is India's first modern Gurukul (residential school) for Indian classical dances and an intentional community in the form of a dance village, set up by Odissi dancer Protima Gauri in 1990. The residential school offers training in Indian classical dance forms, Odissi, Mohiniattam, Kathak, Bharatnatyam, Kuchipudi, Kathakali and Manipuri, eight hours a day, six days a week for seven year, following the ancient Guru-shishya tradition.

Hebbur

Hebbur is a village in the southern state of Karnataka, India. It is located in the Tumkur taluk of Tumkur district in Karnataka. The town is famous for Sri Kamakshi Sharada Mutt, with the goddess Kamakshi Sharada being the presiding deity. This town was earlier called as 'Ghanapuri', possibly a Sanskrit name. The town had more than a 100 temples but most of them are in a bad shape now.
