Hemavati River

The Hemavati is an important tributary of the Kaveri. It starts in the Western Ghats at an elevation of about 1,219 metres near Ballala rayana durga in the Chikmagalur District of the state of Karnataka, in southern India, and flows through Chikkamagaluru, Hassan District and Mysore district before joining the Kaveri near Krishnarajasagara. It is approximately 245 km long and has a drainage area of about 5,410 km². A large reservoir has been built on the river at Gorur in the Hassan district.

Hunsur

Hunsur is a taluk in Mysore district in the Indian state of Karnataka. Its main claim to fame was that former Chief minister of Karnataka state Sri D. Devaraj Urs hailed from this constituency of Karnataka Legislative Assembly and famous film director Hunsur Krishnamurthy hailed from here. It connects Bangalore to the Nagarahole National Park and Kodagu. It is also well known for timber trade, especially teak.
