Hebbal lake
Hebbal Lake is located in the north of Bangalore at the mouth of National Highway 7, along the junction of Bellary Road and the Outer Ring Road (ORR). It was one of the three lakes created in 1537 by Kempe Gowda. Like most lakes or "tanks" in the Bangalore region it was formed by the damming natural valley systems by the construction of bunds. The spread of the lake in a study in 2000 was found to be 75 ha with plans for extending it to make up 143 ha.

The Veterinary College, Bangalore was established on 25 July 1958 affiliated to Mysore University. The college started in a temporary shed located in the then Mysore Serum Institute, now called the Institute of Animal Health and Veterinary Biologicals, Hebbal. St. Germain High School is an unaided private institution, established in January 1944. The school began in the former Clergy and Archbishop's House, which had housed St. Joseph's Boys High School before they moved to their present location in Richmond Town. The school was named after a French priest Rev. Fr. St Germain who had been a sports teacher at St. Joseph's High School. Fr. St. Germain died in 1939 and as a tribute the new school was named after him.
