Puthen Kovilakam

Puthen Kovilakam is one section of the Kodungallur Kovilakam, a palace in Kodungallur, Kerala, India. Puthen Kovilakamh means "new palace". This Kovilakam (manor house) was known by the name "Gurukulam". It was a well-known learning center. Many eminent scholars from this Kovilakam contributed to Malayalam and Sanskrit literature.

Sringapuram Mahadeva Temple

Sringapuram Mahadeva Temple a Shiva Temple, is located at Kodungallur in Thrissur District and is about 2 km from Kodungallur Bhagavati Temple. The temple adjoins the Kodungallur Kovilakam palace. The presiding deity of the temple is Lord Shiva. The idol was installed by sage Rishyashringa, after whom the temple is named. The temple faces towards east. There is a 3-bay Nadapandal with tiled roof, beyond which is the Dhwajastambha (flag post).

Kodungallur Kovilakam

Kodungallur Kovilakam refers to palace of Royal Family of the late medieval Kingdom of Kodungallur, modern day Kerala state, India. Kodungallur was a feudal principality subordinate to the rulers of the Kingdom of Cochin. Kingdom of Kodungallur was under the protection of the Dutch after 1707 for a few years before returning to its allegiance to the Zamorin. Kodungallur Royal Family had two branches at Cirakkal Kovilakam and at Puttan Kovilakam.

Cheraman Juma Masjid

Cheraman Juma Masjid is a mosque in Methala, Kodungallur Taluk in the Indian state of Kerala. The Cheraman Masjid is said to be the very first mosque in India, built in 629 AD by Malik lbn Dinar. It is believed that this mosque was first renovated and reconstructed in the 11th century AD. Many non-Muslims conduct initiation ceremonies to the world of letters of their children here.

Mahodayapuram

Mahodaya Puram (Mahodaya Pattanam, Makotai, probably Udagai) was the capital city of Chera dynasty between 8th and 12th century AD. It was spread around present day Kodungallur (Cranganore), Thrissur district, Kerala. The city was built around Tiruvanchikkulam temple and was protected by high fortress on all sides and had extensive pathways and palaces. The temple was a centre of Saivite cult in the early years of the Later Chera age.
