Dharavi

Dharavi (Hindi and Marathi: धारावी; Portuguese spelling Daravi British Anglicised spelling Darravy, Dorrovy) is a slum and administrative ward, over parts of Sion, Bandra, Kurla and Kalina suburbs of Mumbai, India. It is sandwiched between Mahim in the west and Sion in the east, and spread over an area of 175 hectares, or 0.67 square miles . In 1986, the population was estimated at 530,225, but modern Dharavi has a population of between 600,000 and over 1 million people.

Nossa Senhora de Bom Concelho (Bombay)

Nossa Senhora de Bom Concelho also known as Our Lady of Good Counsel is one of the oldest churches in Bombay built by the Portuguese Franciscans. It was built at Sion and was initially affiliated to the St. Michael's Church at Mahim in 1596. The artistically done stained glass windows of the Church portray the martyrdom of Blessed Thomas of Tolentino, Fr. James of Pauda, Fr. Peter of Siena, a Cleric and Br. Dementrius of Titlis. ' at Thane, in April 1321.

Mahim Causeway

The Mahim Causeway is a vital link road connecting South Mumbai with its northern suburbs. The causeway links the neighbourhoods of Mahim to the south with Bandra to the north. The Mahim Causeway was built between 1841 to 1846 to connect the island of Salsette with Mahim. The swampy area between the two islands made travel dangerous and thus a need for a causeway arose. The British East India Company, who governed Bombay at that time, refused to fund the project.
