Velneshwar

Velneshwar is a village on the Western Coast of Maharashtra, India, about 170 km from Ratnagiri. Velneshwar is reputed for its rock-free beach which facilitates the ease of swimming. There is an old Shiva temple near Velneshwar which is frequently visited by pilgrims. This village is considered to be the root of the Gokhale, Raste (Gokhale), Gadgil, Govande, Savarkar, Velankar families and has their family shrine.

Guhagar

Guhagar is a census town in Ratnagiri district in the Indian state of Maharashtra. The town is known for its virgin beach, coir items, coconuts, betel nuts and mainly Haapus Alphanso mangoes. The nearest city and railhead is Chiplun, about 44 kilometres away. The economy of Guhagar boomed after the Dabhol Power Company, a few kilometres north was commissioned in the early 1990s. Hotels sprung up and residents were given well-paid jobs.

Anjanvel (Gopalgad)

Anjanwel is a small town near Enron Company Plant at Veldur. Gopalgad Fort at Anjanwel is one of the picturesque forts in Konkan. It is a coastal fort, half of which is on a hill and the other half touches the sea. You can drive up to steeper fort walls.

Saitavde, or Saitawada, is a small village on the Jaigad creek in Ratnagiri district. It is about 390 km southwest of Mumbai, and about 58 km to the north of Ratnagiri city.

Vashishti River

River Vashishti is one of the larger rivers in the Konkan coast of Maharashtra, India. The town of Chiplun lies on its banks. The river begins in the Western Ghats and snakes its way westwards towards the Arabian Sea. Kolkiwadi Dam, near Alore has a vast reservoir which feeds a tributary of the river. During the 2005 Maharashtra floods, the river swelled its banks, causing many of the city's residents to evacuate it. The river has many riverine islands.
