Krishnagiri Fort

Krishnagiri Fort is one of the strongest forts in the Krishnagiri district and is now one of the monuments protected by the Archaeological Survey of India. The fort was built by King Krishnadevaraya of the Vijayanagar Empire. For this reason, the town and the fort got the name Krishnagiri (“Krishna” from the king’s name, “giri” meaning hill).

Krishnagiri is a district in the state of Tamil Nadu, India. The municipal town of Krishnagiri is the district headquarters.
