Thillai Kali Temple, Chidambaram

Thillai Kali Temple(Tamil&#160) is a Hindu Temple located on the outskirts of the town of Chidambaram, Cuddalore District Tamilnadu in India. It was built by Chola King Kopperunjingan who ruled between 1229 A.D. and 1278 A. D This Temple is on the outskirts of the city of Chidhambaram. Legend says that Lord Kaali moved here after losing to Lord Siva in the celestial dance contest.

Battle of Porto Novo

The Battle of Porto Novo was fought on 1 July 1781 between forces of the Kingdom of Mysore and Great Britain near the village of Porto Novo (now known as Parangipettai) on the Indian subcontinent, during the Second Anglo-Mysore War. The British force, numbering more than 8,000 under the command of Sir Eyre Coote defeated a force estimated at 40,000 under the command of Hyder Ali.

Veeranam Lake

Veeranam Lake is located 14 km SSW of Chidambaram in Cuddalore district in the state of Tamil Nadu in South India. 1 km from Sethiyathope. The lake located 235 km from Chennai, India, is one of the water reservoirs from where water is planned to be supplied to Chennai. The Veeranam project, to supply water to Chennai, was conceived in 1967 by the then Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, C. N. Annadurai, and executed under his successor, M. Karunanidhi.
