Erwadi fire incident

Erwadi fire incident is an accident that occurred on 6 August 2001, when 28 inmates of a faith-based mental asylum died in fire. All these inmates were bound by chains at Moideen Badusha Mental Home in Erwadi Village in Tamil Nadu. Large number of mental homes existed in Erwadi which was famous for the dargah of Quthbus Sultan Syed Ibrahim Shaheed Valiyullah, from Medina, Saudi Arabia who came to India to propagate Islam.

Karaikudi

Karaikudi is a Municipality in Sivaganga District in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It is part of the area commonly referred to as "Chettinad". Karaikudi became popular because the area is famous for houses built with limestone called 'karai veedu'. It may also be due to a plant called "Karai" which is widely spread over this area. It is the biggest city in the district.
