Neyveli is a mining and power generation township in Cuddalore district in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It is located at 11.30° N - 79.29° E. It is 52 kilometres inland from Bay of Bengal, west of Pondicherry and 197 kilometres south of Chennai, located 8 kilometres west of Vadalur. The Neyveli Township was developed after mining of lignite started under the Neyveli Lignite Corporation (NLC) in 1956 some 10 kilometres north of the original Neyveli village.

Lower Anaicut
The Lower Anaicut or Anaikkarai is a dam and bridge built on the Kollidam (the northern tributary of Kaveri River) in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It was built in 1902 by the colonial administration of the Madras Presidency for irrigating the erstwhile South Arcot district. Stones from the ruins of Gangaikonda Cholapuram were used to construct the dam. It is situated about 70 miles below the Upper Anaicut and 20km from Kumbakonam.
