Swamithope (alternate spelling Swamithoppe) is the name of a town that lies southeast of the City of Nagercoil, the capital of the District of Kanyakumari in the State of Tamil Nadu, at the extreme southern tip of India. In the past, Swamithope was a was known by the name Poovandanthoppe which was part of the village, Sasthankutty Vilai Swamithope lies about half-way between the cities of Nagercoil and Kanniyakumari on the Nagercoil-Kanniyakumari road.

Muthiri kinaru
Muthiri kinaru Muthiri (affixing the seal) + Kinaru (well) means "The sealed well". It is the sacred well located in the north-western corner of Swamithoppe village. This is the famous theertha of the temple. It was located half a kilometer west from the main Pathi. Historically, this well plays a major role in joining the people in this part of the country, breaking the caste based discrimination preveals among them.
