Neermahal

Neermahal (নীরমহল, meaning Water palace) is a former royal palace built by King Bir Bikram Kishore Debbarman of the erstwhile Kingdom of Tripura in the middle of the lake Rudrasagar in 1930. It is situated 53 kilometers away from the Agartala, the capital of Tripura. The palace is situated in the middle of Rudrasagar Lake and assimilates Hindu and Muslim architectural styles. The palace is the 2nd largest of its kind in India after the Jalmahal in Rajasthan and the only one in Eastern India.

Udaipur, Tripura

Udaipur is a town and a nagar panchayat in the Indian state of Tripura. This city is famous for the Tripura Sundari temple. It is also the head-quarters of Gumati district. Udaipur is about 55 km from Agartala, the capital of Tripura. There are lots of artificial lakes (namely Dhani Sagar, Mahadev Dighi, Jaganath Dighi, Amar Sagar). Udaipur is the 2nd largest town of tripura on the bank of Gumati river.

2008 Agartala bombings

In the 2008 Agartala bombings at least 4 people were killed and a 100 injured on 1 October 2008 in a series of 5 blasts set off in Agartala, capital of the Indian state of Tripura, within 45 minutes, while two unexploded bombs were defused. This is the fourth series of blasts in India within a week, the other three being the 27 September Delhi bombing, and the Malegoan and Modasa bombings.
