Carrickshock incident

The Carrickshock incident, Carrickshock massacre, or battle of Carrickshock was a confrontation between the Irish Constabulary and local Catholic peasantry near Carrickshock in County Kilkenny on 14 December 1831, during the Tithe War in Ireland. Seventeen were killed: 14 of a party attempting to collect tithes and three of the crowd of locals who confronted them.

Rossenarra House

Rossenarra House is a large country house in Rossenarra Demesne (formerly Castlehale), near the village of Kilmoganny in County Kilkenny, Ireland. It is thought to have been designed by the architect James Hoban, who was also responsible for designing the White House in Washington, D.C. The house was built around 1824-25 in a Palladian style, having been commissioned by Maurice Reade, the owner of a large estate in the Kilmoganny area.

Carrickshock GAA

Carrickshock is an Irish Gaelic Athletic Association club situated in the south of County Kilkenny, Ireland. The club was founded in 1928 when the teams from Hugginstown and Knockmoylan were amalgamated. Carrickshock have had success in the Kilkenny Senior Hurling Championship, winning the competition seven times. Their record of four county titles in a row between 1940 and 1943 remained unbroken until 2009 when Ballyhale Shamrocks won their 4th title in succession.

The club was founded in 1972 and is primarily concerned with the game of hurling. Carrick-on-Suir railway station

Carrick-on-Suir railway station serves the town of Carrick-on-Suir, South Tipperary in Ireland. It has a weekday passenger service of two trains to Waterford and two to Limerick Junction. There is no Sunday service. Until January 19th 2013 (inclusive) there were three trains each way. However the late-morning Waterford to Limerick Junction and early-afternoon Limerick Junction to Waterford trains are now discontinued.
