Pordenone railway station

Pordenone railway station (Italian: Stazione di Pordenone) serves the city and comune of Pordenone, in the autonomous region of Friuli-Venezia Giulia, northeastern Italy. Opened in 1855, the station is located on the Venice–Udine railway. Although it is not a junction or terminal station, it is used by a great many passengers. The station is currently managed by Rete Ferroviaria Italiana (RFI). However, the commercial area of the passenger building is managed by Centostazioni.

The Province of Pordenone (Italian: Provincia di Pordenone) is a province in the autonomous Friuli-Venezia Giulia region of Italy. Its capital is the city of Pordenone. The territory was carved out of the Province of Udine in 1968. It has an area of 2,273 km², and a total population of 316,235 (2012). There are 51 communes in the province.

Battle of Vittorio Veneto

The Battle of Vittorio Veneto was fought between 24 October and 3 November 1918, near Vittorio Veneto, during the Italian Campaign of World War I. The Italian victory marked the end of the war on the Italian Front, secured the dissolution of the Austro-Hungarian Empire and was chiefly instrumental in ending the First World War less than two weeks later. Some Italians see Vittorio Veneto as the final culmination of the Risorgimento nationalist movement, in which Italy was unified.
