Venetian Slovenia

Venetian Slovenia is a small mountainous region in northeastern Italy . Most of the region is located in the Italian region of Friuli Venezia Giulia, in the area between the towns of Cividale del Friuli, Tarcento and Gemona . It is part of the Province of Udine in the region of Friuli-Venezia Giulia. A small part of the region is located in the municipality of Kobarid in Slovenia, in the mountainous area around the villages of Breginj and Livek.

Kolovrat Range

Kolovrat is an Alpine mountain range on the border between Slovenia and Italy, northwest of Tolmin and southwest of Kobarid. It is a geographical border between the Soča Valley in Slovenia and the Venetian Slovenia region of Italy. It extends about 7 km at an elevation between 800 and 1150 m. There are two roads on the range, one from the Italian side, accessible from Drenchia, and one from the Slovenian side, accessible from the villages of Livek and Volče.

Battle of Caporetto

The Battle of Caporetto (also known as the Twelfth Battle of the Isonzo or the Battle of Karfreit as it was known by the Central Powers), took place from 24 October to 19 November 1917, near the town of Kobarid, on the Austro-Italian front of World War I. The battle was named after the Italian name of the town of Kobarid (known as Karfreit in German).

Vrtoglavica Cave

The Vrtoglavica Cave (also Vrtiglavica, from Slovenian "vrtoglavica" = vertigo) is a cave located inside the Kanin mountain in the Slovenian part of the Julian Alps, near to the border between Slovenia and Italy. The cave holds the record for having the deepest single vertical drop of any cave on Earth at a depth of 603 metres . Total depth of cave is 643 m, it contains one of the tallest cave waterfalls in the world, estimated height of falls - 400 to 440 m.
