Wipptal

The Wipptal (Wipp valley) is a valley extending along the Sill River southward from Innsbruck, Tyrol, Austria, where the Sill meets the larger Inn river, up to the Brenner Pass (1,374 m) at the Austro-Italian border, one of the lowest passes across the Central Eastern Alps. South of the border, it continues as Southern Wipptal along the Eisack river by way of Sterzing to Franzensfeste and forms the Wipptal District of the province of South Tyrol.

Brenner railway station

Brenner railway station serves the town and comune of Brenner, in the autonomous province of South Tyrol in northeastern Italy. Opened in 1867, it is 300 m from the border between Italy and Austria, and forms part of the Brenner railway, between Verona, Italy and Innsbruck, Austria. The station is currently managed by Rete Ferroviaria Italiana (RFI). Italian train services to and from the station are operated by Trenitalia.

Brennersee

The lake Brennersee lies approximately 1.15 km north of the Brenner Pass, 1310 metres above sea level. With an area of approximately 19 ha, it is the biggest lake in the Wipptal. The lake can be explored by motorway A13 or by local train from Innsbruck. Although the lake is always open for bathing, the water barely warms up to 12 °C, even in midsummer. In addition, the basin and motorway often conceal the sun, and the proximate environment is chilly.

Obernberger Seebach

The Obernberger Seebach, formerly called Obernberger Ache, is a river in Austria originating south-west of Brenner and taking a north-east route to the Sill River. In the middle of the valley the brook passes through the village of Obernberg am Brenner. From the spring until to the mouth it overcomes more than 200 height meters in a V-shaped valley. He provides the village with drinking water thanks to its Grade A quality. In the lower course live fishes such as trouts.

Grafsee

Grafsee (literally Count Lake) is a lake in northern Italy. It lies more than 2000 metres above sea level and approximately 500 metres above the Hatzlacke lake. Both lakes can be reached on foot by following travel route 5 beginning from Kematen. To the south of the lake is a snack station called the Gruben alpine hut. The cold lake water with A grade quality remains very fresh at 11°C even on hot summer days. Bathing is therefore only conditionally recommended.
