HVDC Italy–Corsica–Sardinia

The HVDC Italy–Corsica–Sardinia (also called SACOI; Sardinia–Corsica–Italy) is an HVDC interconnection used for the exchange of electric energy between the Italian mainland, Corsica and Sardinia. It is unusual, having more than two converter stations as part of a single HVDC system, and (as of 2012) is one of only two Multi-terminal HVDC systems in operation in the world.

Follonica Airfield

Follonica Airfield is an abandoned World War II military airfield in Italy, located in the vicinity of Follonica in Tuscany; about 180 km northwest of Rome. It was an all-weather temporary field built by the United States Army Air Force XII Engineer Command using a graded earth compacted surface, with a prefabricated hessian (burlap) surfacing known as PHS.

Scarlino Scalo is a town in Tuscany, central Italy, administratively a frazione of the comune of Scarlino, province of Grosseto. At the time of the 2001 census its population amounted to 1230. Scarlino Scalo is about 39 km from Grosseto and 6 km from Scarlino, and it is situated in a plain at the bottom of the hill of Scarlino, near to the Aurelia Statal Road and along the Tirrenica railway line, which links Livorno and Pisa with Grosseto and Rome.
