Fortress of San Leo

The Fortress of San Leo is a castle on the border of the Marche and Romagna regions of central Italy, and famous as the death-place of Count Cagliostro. It contains a museum. It was one of the palaces owned by Federico da Montefeltro and his wife Battista Sforza and was a fortified, palatial retreat. It played a large part in the 1991-film Hudson Hawk as the fictional castle of Leonardo Da Vinci.

Geography of San Marino

San Marino is located in Southern Europe, an enclave (landlocked) in central Italy, which it borders for 39 km. The smallest independent state by area in Europe after Vatican and Monaco, San Marino is dominated by the Apennines. Located at {{#invoke:Coordinates|coord}}{{#coordinates:43|46|N|12|25|E||| | |name= }}, it covers an area of 60.5 km . It has a Mediterranean climate with mild to cool winters and warm, sunny summers. Completely mountainous, only 17% of its territory is arable.

Alpe della Luna

The Alpe della Luna ("Alp of the Moon") is a mountain massif in the northern Apennine Mountains of central Italy. It is situated across the boundaries of Tuscany, Marche, Umbria and Romagna. It is part of Appennino tosco-romagnolo. Its highest peaks are the Monte dei Frati, at 1,453 m above sea level, and Monte Maggiore (1,384 m). The sources of the Metauro, Marecchia (on the Adriatic Sea-facing slopes) and Tiber River (on the Tyrrhenian Sea side) are located in the massif area.
