Santa Maria Maggiore, Gazzo Veronese
Santa Maria Maggiore is a church in Gazzo Veronese, a village in the Veneto near Verona, northern Italy. It is first mentioned in the 9th century. An inscription on the exterior dates its consecration to 20 August 846. In 1117 an earthquake destroyed the first church, which was rebuilt in Romanesque style. During restorations in 1938-1940 9th century mosaics were discovered under the current pavement. Another extensive restoration was carried on in the 15th century.

Mincio
Mincio is a river in the Lombardy region of northern Italy. Called the Sarca River before entering Lake Garda, it flows from there about 65 km past Mantua and into the Po River. At Mantua the Mincio was widened in the late 12th century, forming a series of three (originally four) lakes that skirt the edges of the old city. The original settlement here, dating from c2000BC, was on an island in the Mincio.

Battle of the Bridge of Arcole
The Battle of Arcole or Battle of Arcola (15–17 November 1796) saw a bold manoeuvre by Napoleon Bonaparte's French Army of Italy to outflank the Austrian army under József Alvinczi and cut its line of retreat. The French victory proved to be the most significant event during the third Austrian attempt to lift the Siege of Mantua. The action took place during the War of the First Coalition, part of the French Revolutionary Wars. Arcole is located 25 kilometres southeast of Verona on Route SP39.
