Cima Ekar

Cima Ekar is a ridge located about 4 km east of and about 350 m higher than the Italian town of Asiago. On the crest of this ridge sits the Asiago Astrophysical Observatory, home of a 67/92-cm Schmidt telescope and the 182-cm telescope dedicated to Nicholas Copernicus, the largest telescope in Italy. Co-located at Cima Ekar is the Asiago-DLR Asteroid Survey (ADAS), IAU code 209.

Asiago Astrophysical Observatory

The Asiago Astrophysical Observatory (Osservatorio Astrofisico di Asiago, or Asiago Observatory for short) is an astronomical observatory (IAU code 043) owned and operated by the University of Padua. Founded in 1942, it is located on the plateau of Asiago, 90 km northwest of Padova near the town of Asiago. It has the Galilei telescopes. Nearby (about 3.8 km to the southeast) is the Cima Ekar Observing Station, also known as the Stazione osservativa di Asiago Cima Ekar, IAU code 098.

Battle of Asiago

The Battle of Asiago (Battle of the Plateaux) or the Trentino Offensive, nicknamed Strafexpedition by the Austrians, was a counteroffensive launched by the Austro-Hungarians on the Italian Front on May 15, 1916, during World War I. It was an unexpected attack that took place near Asiago in the province of Vicenza (now in northeast Italy, then on the Italian side of the border between the Kingdom of Italy and Austria-Hungary) after the Fifth Battle of the Isonzo (March 1916).

Battle of Monte Grappa

During World War I a series of battles were fought between the armies of the Austro-Hungarian Empire and the Kingdom of Italy for control of the Monte Grappa massif, as it covered the left flank of the Italian Piave front. The first of these battles became the most famous as it brought the Austrian summer offensive of 1917 to a halt.
