Altinum
Altinum is the name of an ancient coastal town of the Veneti 15 km SE of the modern Treviso, northern Italy, on the edge of the lagoons. Located on the eastern coast of that nation, at the mouth of the river Silis, it was first destroyed by Attila in 452 and gradually abandoned by its inhabitants, who sought refuge in the islands of the lagoon, such as Torcello and Burano, in the area where later Venice would be built. Altino has today some 100 inhabitants and a historical museum.

It is a notable example of Venetian-Byzantine architecture, one of the most ancient religious edifices in the Veneto. According to an ancient inscription, it was founded by the exarch Isaac of Ravenna in 639. The original church is believed to have had a nave with one aisle on each side and a single apse on the eastern wall of the cathedral.

Mazzorbo
Mazzorbo is an island in the northern Venetian Lagoon, northern Italy, linked to Burano by a bridge. It was once an important trading centre but is now known for its vineyards and orchards.
