Banat Air Flight 166

Banat Air Flight 166 (registered YR-AMR) was an Antonov AN-24 chartered on 13 December 1995 by Banat Air from Romavia. It was due to fly from Verona to Timişoara. It crashed on take-off due to 2-3 tonnes excess weight and ice accumulation on the wings, killing all eight crewmembers and 41 passengers. The accident was the 116th loss of an Antonov 24.

On August 2, 1919, a Caproni Ca.48 airliner crashed at Verona, Italy. All aboard died, with various sources placing the death toll at 14, 15, and 17. It was Italy\u0091s first commercial aviation disaster and one of the earliest heavier-than-air airliner disasters in history.

Verona Villafranca Airport, also known as Valerio Catullo Airport or simply Villafranca Airport is an airport located 2.7 NM southwest of Verona, Italy. It is situated in the middle of the provinces of Brescia, Mantua, Rovigo, Vicenza, Trento, Bolzano and Verona, serving a population of more than four million inhabitants. In 1999 Valerio Catullo Airport reached the second position in the special classification of charter traffic after Milano Malpensa and before Roma Fiumicino.

The Battle of Custoza was fought on July 24 and 25, 1848 during the First Italian War of Independence between the armies of the Austrian Empire, commanded by Field Marshal Radetzky, and the Kingdom of Sardinia, led by King Charles Albert of Sardinia-Piedmont.
