Kenya Airways Flight 431 was an international scheduled Abidjan–Lagos–Nairobi passenger service, operated with an Airbus A310-300, that crashed into the sea, off the coast of Côte d'Ivoire, on 30 January 2000 at 21:09:24 GMT, shortly after takeoff from Félix Houphouët-Boigny International Airport. There were 179 people on board, of whom 169 were passengers. It was the first fatal accident for Kenya Airways.

Île Boulay
The name of Boulay is applied both to an archipelago of islands in the Abidjan Lagoon in Côte d'Ivoire and the main island of that group. St Paul's Cathedral is a Roman Catholic cathedral located in the city of Abidjan, Cote d'Ivoire. The cathedral, which was designed by architect Aldo Spirito, serves as the motherchurch for the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Abidjan. The first stone of the cathedral was consecrated on May 11, 1980 by Pope John Paul II during his first pastoral visit to Côte d'Ivoire . He also dedicated the building completion on August 10, 1985 during a second visit to the country.
