Hachirōgata, Akita

Hachirōgata, Akita is a town located in Minamiakita District, Akita, Japan. As of 2011, the town has an estimated population of 6,540 and a density of 385 persons per km². The total area is 17.03 km². It is the smallest town in Akita prefecture. It was named after Lake Hachirōgata which lies in the west of the town. (Lake Hachirogata was the second biggest lake in Japan however it was drained for reclamation project from 1957 to 1977.)
