Shirakami-Sanchi

Shirakami-Sanchi is a UNESCO World Heritage Site in northern Honshū, Japan. This mountainous, unspoiled expanse of virgin forest straddles both Akita and Aomori Prefectures. Of the entire 1,300 km², a tract covering 169.7 km² was included in the list of World Heritage Sites in 1993. Siebold's beech trees make up a large portion of the forest.

Iwaki Kōgen Prefectural Natural Park

Iwaki Kōgen Prefectural Natural Park is a Prefectural Natural Park in southwest Aomori Prefecture, Japan. Established in 1958, the park lies wholly within the municipality of Hirosaki.

Iwakiyama Jinja

Iwakiyama Jinja is a Shintō shrine in the city of Hirosaki in Aomori Prefecture, Japan. It is the ichinomiya of former Tsugaru Domain. All of Mount Iwaki is considered to be a portion of the shrine. The main festival of the shrine, the Oyama-sankei, features a parade from the shrine to the top of the mountain, and is held annually at the time of the autumn equinox. The pilgrims carry colorful banners and are accompanied by traditional drums and flutes

Sōma, Aomori

Sōma, Aomori was a village located in Nakatsugaru District in southern Aomori Prefecture, Japan. Sōma was located in southern Tsugaru Peninsula, on the border of Akita Prefecture. The area was part of Hirosaki Domain during the Edo period. After the Meiji Restoration, Sōma Village was created in 1889. On February 1, 2006 it was merged with the neighboring town of Iwaki into the city of Hirosaki, and thus no longer exists as an independent municipality.
