Shijimizuka site

The Shijimizuka site is a late Jōmon archaeological site in Naka-ku, Hamamatsu, Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan. , inhabited from approximately 2000 BC – 1000 BC. The existence of a number of large shell middens containing millions of shells of freshwater bivalve clams was noted in mid-Edo period records. Uenohara site

The Uenohara site is a Jōmon archaeological site in Kirishima, Kagoshima Prefecture, Japan. Pit dwellings were discovered during construction work in 1997. The numerous associated earthenware and lithic finds are an Important Cultural Property and the area has been designated an Historic Site. In 2002/3 an area of 36 ha was turned into a park and exhibition centre, known as Uenohara Jōmon no Mori lit. 'Uenohara Jōmon Forest'.
