Shizugawa, Miyagi

Shizugawa, Miyagi was a town located in Motoyoshi District, Miyagi, Japan. On October 1, 2005, Shizugawa was merged with the town of Utatsu to form the new town of Minamisanriku, and no longer exists as an independent municipality. In 2003, the town had an estimated population of 13,688 and a population density of 110.16 persons per km². The total area was 124.25 km². Shizugawa has both a junior high school and a high school.

Rikuzen-Togura Station

Rikuzen-Togura Station is located on the JR Kesennuma Line in Minamisanriku, Miyagi. The station was destroyed by the 2011 tsunami and surrounding railway track was washed away.

Shizuhama Station

Shizuhama Station is located on the JR Kesennuma Line in Minamisanriku, Miyagi. The blue-roofed station platform remained standing after the 2011 tsunami, however large sections of the adjacent railway bridge and track (northeast of the station) collapsed.

Shizugawa Station

Shizugawa Station is located on the JR Kesennuma Line in Minamisanriku, Miyagi. It was destroyed by the 2011 Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami.

Kitakami River

The Kitakami River is the fourth largest river in Japan and the largest in the Tōhoku region. It is 249 kilometres long and drains an area of 10,150 square kilometres . It flows through mostly rural areas of Iwate and Miyagi Prefectures. The river is unusual in that it has two mouths, one flowing south into Ishinomaki Bay and the other flowing east into the Pacific Ocean, both in Ishinomaki City.
