Amanoiwato-jinja

Amanoiwato-jinja is a Shinto shrine located in Takachiho, Miyazaki prefecture, Japan. It is dedicated to the sun goddess Amaterasu and sits above the gorge containing Ama-no-Iwato, the cave where, according to Japanese legend, the goddess hid after battle with her brother, plunging the world into darkness until lured out by the spirit of merriment Ame-no-Uzume.

Kitagawa Dam

Kitagawa Dam is a dam in the Saiki, Ōita, Japan, completed in 1962. It spans the Kita River, a class A river, in the Gokase River drainage system. It is managed by Ōita Prefecture, and it is an 82.0 meter tall concrete arch dam. It is the largest dam in the Gokase River drainage system, and it was build with government subsidies with the goal of flood control and hydroelectric power generation for the Kita River basin.

Shonenji Temple, Takachiho

Shonenji Temple, Takachiho is a temple of the Jōdo Shinshū school of Buddhism. It is located in Takachiho Town, Miyazaki, on Kyūshū, Japan's southernmost main island. The Shonen-ji temple complex is situated at the base of Genbuzan mountain, about 12 km outside central Takachiho. It was established there in 1578 by Tanio Yoshimura following the destruction of Genbu-jo, the Yoshimura clan's castle.
