Hedo-misaki
Hedo-misaki is the northernmost point on Okinawa Island, located within Kunigami Village. A cape jutting out north from the island, it faces the South China Sea on the west, and the Pacific Ocean on the east. On a particularly clear day, the island of Yoronjima can be seen on the horizon. The site has become a tourist destination, both for its geographic location, and for the monument erected there commemorating the end of US Occupation and return of Okinawa to Japanese sovereignty in 1972.

USS Emmons (DD-457)
USS Emmons (DD-457/DMS-22) was a Gleaves-class destroyer of the United States Navy, named for Rear Admiral George F. Emmons (1811–1884). Emmons was launched 23 August 1941 by Bath Iron Works Corp. , Bath, Me. , sponsored by Mrs. F. E.
