Its local authority is Kapsabet municipality and local constituency is Emgwen. Kabirirsang is the birthplace of several famous Kenyan runners, such as Henry Rono, Janeth Jepkosgei and Wilfred Bungei. Nandi District

Nandi District is an administrative district in the Rift Valley Province of Kenya. Its capital town is Kapsabet. The local people are mostly of the Nandi tribe. Nandi District is famous for producing many Kenyan runners, including Kipchoge Keino, Henry Rono, Moses Tanui and Bernard Lagat.

Kapsabet is a town in the Rift Valley Province, Kenya. It is the capital of Nandi District. Kapsabet hosts a municipal council and divisional headquarters of Kapsabet administrative division. Kapsabet municipality has an urban population of 17,918 and a total population of 64,830 (1999 census). Kapsabet municipality has eight wards (Chemundu/Kaptildil, Chepterit, Kabirirsang, Kamobo, Kapsabet, Kiminda, Kipsigak/Kipsotoi and Kipture/Irimis).
