New Laos National Stadium

New Laos National Stadium is a new multi-use stadium in Vientiane, Laos, that was built in 2009 It was used mostly for football matches as well as athletics events and was used to host the opening and closing ceremonies for the 2009 Southeast Asian Games. Upon completion, it replaced the previous Laos National Stadium.

National University of Laos

Battle of Ban Dong

The Battle of Ban Dong was a major battle of the Vietnam War that took place in Laos, involving the North and South Vietnamese armies. The battle lasted from February 8 to March 20, 1971. Before Operation Lam Son 719 began, intelligence indicated that North Vietnam had permanently placed logistical units in the Ban Dong area, especially along the Ho Chi Minh Trail. The logistical units were supported by one regular division, with another one ready for rapid deployment.

Pha That Luang

Pha That Luang is a gold-covered large Buddhist stupa in the centre of Vientiane, Laos. Since its initial establishment suggested to be in the 3rd century, the stupa has undergone several reconstructions until the 1930s due to foreign invasions to the area. It is generally regarded as the most important national monument in Laos and a national symbol.

Patuxai

Patuxai is a war monument in the centre of Vientiane, Laos, which was built between 1957 and 1968. The Patuxai is dedicated to those who fought in the struggle for independence from France. In romanising the name from the Laotian language, it is variously transliterated as Patuxai, Patuxay, Patousai and Patusai. It is also called Patuxai Arch or the Arc de Triomphe of Vientiane as it resembles the Arc de Triomphe in Paris.
