Machinga District
Machinga is a district in the Southern Region of Malawi. The capital is Machinga. The district covers an area of 3,771 km. ² and has a population of 369,614. Machinga contains seven National Assembly constituencies: Machinga - Central East, Machinga - North East, Machinga - South East, Machinga Likwenu, Machinga South, Machinga-Central and Machinga-East. Since the 2009 general election all of these constituencies have been represented by politicians from the United Democratic Front.

Lake Malombe
Lake Malombe is a lake in southern part of Malawi, on the Shire River, in the Southern Region. It is located at around {{#invoke:Coordinates|coord}}{{#coordinates:14|40|0|S|35|15|0|E|type:waterbody_region:MW | |name= }}. It has an area of about 450 square kilometres . In recent years the number of fishermen on the lake rose substantially, this led to local decline in some fish species, such as chambo.
